Television writer-producer Robert Rovner, co-executive producer and recently named co-showrunner for the fantasy action-adventure series “Supergirl,” put his East Coast-style traditional in Encino, Calif., up for sale only about a month ago, at just under $2.7 million. Yet the slightly more than 4,600-square-foot house, behind gates near the end of a quiet, hook-shaped cul-de-sac on an elevated parcel with a distant, over-the-treetops view of the recently scorched Vergudo Mountains, is already in escrow to be sold for an unknown amount. Rovner will just about double his money on the seven-bedroom and five-and-a-half-bathroom residence he purchased in 2005 for a bit more than $1.4 million.
A small foyer with inlaid wood floor leads to a spacious living room with a couple of small skylights and a massive brick fireplace as well as a wainscot-wrapped formal dining room. The renovated, high-end kitchen features marble countertops and a roomy breakfast area with French doors to the backyard; a separate family room has a massive reclaimed brick fireplace. At least three guest bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, and the master suite incorporates a private office/sitting room lined with custom built-ins, a marble hearth fireplace and a marble tiled bathroom with skylight-topped steam shower. A partly covered flagstone-paved dining and lounging patio off the breakfast and living rooms extends out and around a kidney-shaped swimming pool and spa before it gives way to a flat expanse of lawn with an open view.
Rovner, whose credits also include “Blood & Oil” and the primetime soap reprise “Dallas,” upgraded his residential circumstances, according to real estate yenta Yolanda Yakketyyak, with the $4.4 million purchase of a newly constructed residence of not quite 6,500 square feet, also in Encino, with six bedrooms, seven-and-a-half bathrooms and a state-of-the-art screening room.
