Bit-part Canadian actor turned three-time Emmy winning television screenwriter-producer Moira Walley-Beckett, whose credits include “Breaking Bad,” “Flesh and Bone” and “Anne with a E,” the latter two created by her, has hung a $2.1 million price tag on an updated late-1920s Spanish abode in a leafy and convenient yet out-of-the-fray neighborhood of L.A.’s Hollywood Hills. Tax records show Walley-Beckett has owned the property since mid-2017 when she scooped it up for $1.9 million from “Shameless” and “The West Wing” producer Michael Hissirich and writer-producer Lauren Schmidt Hissirich, creator and showrunner of the Netflix adventure-fantasy series “The Witcher.”
Besides the addition of a low wall and high hedging to create a private entrance courtyard, and some landscaping in the backyard, Walley-Becket appears to have made few changes to the unassuming two-story home that packs in four bedrooms and four bathrooms in just over 2,700 square feet.
In the living room, where Walley-Beckett displays her trove of Emmys and other industry awards in a shelf-lined niche, a baronial stone fireplace serves as the high-ceilinged room’s focal point and a huge, 40-pane picture window provides a wide view of the surrounding hills and homes. A separate dining room is in addition to a cozy built-in dining banquette in the unfussy but high-end center-island kitchen that sports sugar-white Shaker-style cabinetry, thick slabs of delicately veined white marble countertops and gleaming stainless steel designer appliances.
An upper level bedroom with nearby bathroom opens to a small private balcony, while two more guest bedrooms on the lower level each have a private bath and flank the main bedroom. Though not especially large, the main bedroom is quite comfortable with a couple of closets, a marble-accented bath and French doors to a terrace shaded from the scorching sun by a fetching orange awning.
Enshrouded in foliage with palm tress and rose bushes, the small but cleverly terraced and verdantly faux-grassed yard offers a romantic dining terrace and secluded hot tub.
The listing is held by Gwen Banta and Tory Herald of Sotheby’s Int’l Realty.
