Comedy writer-producer Jessi Klein, head writer for the “Inside Amy Schumer” sketch comedy series and winner of a 2015 Emmy as one of its executive producers, has shelled out a bit more than $2.4 million for a renovated, 1920s Spanish villa just above L.A.’s Silver Lake Reservoir. The just slightly bigger than 2,700-square-foot, two-story residence sits close to the street behind a decorative wrought iron gate and tall privacy wall draped with prickly bougainvillea and contains three and potentially four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
A walled entry courtyard with a colorfully tiled fountain leads to an entrance gallery that features antique terra-cotta floor tiles and an intricate, hand-painted Art Deco-style mural on the ceiling. The not-quite 27-foot-long living room has wood beams across the raised ceiling and an imposing and tile-accented fireplace window. The separate dining room is open to a somewhat smallish, recently renovated and lavishly equipped kitchen. The upper floor is completed by a tree house-like office with built-in desks, along with a private master suite that offers a fitted walk-in closet, French doors to a trellis-shaded patio and a renovated bathroom.
Downstairs, a marble-tiled hall bathroom sits between a guest bedroom and a family room/potential bedroom with fireplace and a full wall of built-in bookshelves. Another guest bedroom is accessible by passing through the oversized laundry room. A huge, multilevel deck at the back of the house has ample room for lounging and dining areas, a built-in fire feature and a picturesque, palm tree-framed reservoir view.
The former “Saturday Night Live” writer was also a consulting producer for the 2016 season of the groundbreaking Amazon series “Transparent.”
