Timothy B. Schmit, bass guitarist and vocalist for the Eagles, hoisted a 1920s Spanish-style Whitley Heights residence up for sale at just under $2 million and, per online listings, the property was lickety-split put into escrow with an unknown buyer at an unknown price.
Probably close enough to the Hollywood Bowl to eavesdrop on concerts, and described in listings as “the perfect bohemian artist’s retreat,” the not-quite-3,500-square-foot residence was purchased by the 68-year-old classic-rock veteran — a member of the pioneering 1960s country-rock band Poco, and a 1998 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee — in the spring of 2009 for $1.5 million.
Privately positioned well below the street behind a row of hedges, the multi-level hillside house’s open-plan living spaces include a step-down living room with a fireplace and barrel-vaulted ceiling, a red-walled dining room with an over-the-treetops canyon view, a den with French doors leading to a tiled terrace, and a kitchen quirkily outfitted with exposed ceiling beams and an industrial-style stainless steel sink.
