It was impeccably plugged-in Platinum Triangle real estate tattletale Tom Collins who first revealed and — a couple of trusted informants later — confirmed, that Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne surreptitiously shelled out a tetch less than $12 million in a covert, off-market deal for a celeb-pedigreed mansion in Los Angeles’s historically affluent and ever-more expensive Hancock Park ‘hood. The stately, 1930s Spanish Colonial Revival style residence, once owned by radio star Frank Bresee and his former Playboy bunny wife Bobbie Bresee, was carefully restored and extensively upgraded by the sellers, professional sports exec and “Saw” series producer Oren Koules and restaurateur and nightclub entrepreneur Shereen Arazm.
Our research suggests the nearly 9,000-square-foot manse has eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms, along with a guest-impressing double-height central foyer with over-scaled herringbone pattern hardwoods that continue into grandly proportioned formal living and dining rooms. The immense and decidedly contemporary kitchen, which opens to a family room with backyard access, features a triple-wide center island topped by a thick slab of white marble, an array of sleek appliances and a cozy breakfast banquette. A terra cotta tiled loggia overlooks the pancake-flat backyard that encompasses a swimming pool, raised-bed gardening area and detached three-car garage with additional living space above. According to Collins, the Osbournes plan to have the whole place worked over but good by their longtime family decorator, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, in his signature, unabashedly high-glam manner.
The remarkably perambulant rock-n-roll royals, reality television pioneers and celebrity property gossip-column staples, who last summer initiated but backed out of the purchase of a Beverly Hills mansion sold by Alan Ladd, Jr., previously owned a multi-acre estate in L.A.’s celeb-favored Hidden Hills enclave that they sold in 2013 to Jessica Simpson for $11.5 million. They continue to own a 2,100-plus-square-foot condominium at the star-stacked Sierra Towers complex in West Hollywood that they picked up in April 2014 for $4 million.
