YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: We hear via covert communiqué from an impeccably connected informant we’ll call Ivana Tellthechildren, showbiz mover and shaker Scooter Braun — as Your Mama told y’all he would last October — will imminently and officially list his residence above L.A.’s perennially chic Sunset Strip with an asking price of $11,600,000.
Mister Braun may be best known as naughty-naughty international superstar Justin Beiber’s fortune making manager but he also and successfully steers the upwardly mobile careers of a slew of young stars including two-time 2015 Grammy-nominated pop starlet Ariana Grande. Our research reveals Mister Braun has branched out from the music business and in addition to serving as an executive producer for the ‘geek-chic’ procedural drama “Scorpion” he produced through his SB Films production company, the upcoming feature films “Thunder Road” and “Jem and the Holograms.” Plus he got married and he’s got a baby on the way so he’s a busy beaver on both the professional and personal fronts.
Property records show Mister Braun purchased the Sunset Strip residence in August 2011 for $5,700,000 and digital marketing materials we surreptitiously peeped show the crisp and luxuriously fitted and finished four bedroom and five bathroom contemporary sits on a terraced, 9,500-square-foot hillside parcel sort of up behind Halle Berry’s house. The mullet-style dwelling has an unassuming and low-slung, single-story street presence but stands three complete and much more dramatic stories at the back and measures in at more than 5,000 square feet with long view over Los Angeles that — on a clear day — extends all the way to the ocean.
The two-car garage sits hard up on the narrow street but the heavily fortified house is set behind a secured entry gate that opens to a series of stone-tiled platforms that line up to form a pathway across a koi pond to the front door. This is certainly a sexy design conceit but were this our house — and it’s not and never will be, of course — Your Mama would worry some of our more inebriation-prone pals like Fiona Trambeau and Vard C. Camp would tumble into the pond long before they managed to navigate their way to the front door. But anyways…
A wide flight of steps descends from the glass-door front entry to voluminous and sunny, open-plan main living areas that include a double-height combination living/dining room and an expensively and extensively equipped galley-style kitchen. Corkscrew stairs next to the television-surmounted fireplace in the living room twists up to a loft gallery with office nook and gigantic wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling windows. Not surprisingly, given its owner and L.A. locale, there is what listing details describe as a “plush theatre room.”
The master suite, located on the home’s lowest level where it has direct access to the backyard’s various recreational amenities, has a fireplace surrounded by chunky marble slabs, a marble-sheathed bathroom with brightly lit make-up vanity and a spacious sitting area lined on two sides with what appear in listing photographs to be decidedly and decadently elegant, verre églomisé-fronted wardrobes.
For a house in the typically precipitously sloped Sunset Strip area, Mister Braun’s property has a notably flat, grassy backyard fully decked out with a negative edged swimming pool and spa and a fire pit set under a curtained, poolside ramada. There’s a spacious dining terrace, a built-in barbecue station with sink and integrated beer tap and, tucked privately off to the side of the house, a tented cabana lounge.
Mister Braun also owned the house next door, which he bought in June 2012 for $2.45 million and sold earlier this month for $3.925 million, and last fall, as Your Mama was the first to snitch, Mister Braun and his philanthropical new wife, Yael Cohen, the founder and CEO of the aggressively named Fuck Cancer organization, shelled out just over $13 million for powerful entertainment industry exec Stacey Snider’s gated, Kelly Wearstler-decorated compound in a particularly posh cranny of L.A.’s high-toned Brentwood area.
