Two of our better-connected informants snitched that Grammy-winning songwriter and much-in-demand music producer Ryan Tedder surreptitiously shelled out, via an inscrutable corporate concern, nearly $12 million for a freshly rehabbed mid-’60s modern in the perennially popular and punishingly pricey Trousdale Estates area of Beverly Hills. The sophisticated yet laidback residence, overhauled and reinvigorated by renowned interior designer Trip Haenisch, sits on a mostly flat, nearly half-acre lot on a coveted cul-de-sac and includes half of a dozen bedrooms — four principal bedrooms, staff suite and skylit guesthouse — and a total of 5.5 bathrooms. Wide-plank white oak floors run throughout interconnected living spaces that include a step-down living room with matchbook marble fireplace, formal dining room, and combination family room and kitchen with fireplace and two marble-countered work islands. Banks of glass doors fold open and expose many rooms to a backyard privatized by tall walls of mature foliage, and replete with a built-in fire pit; swimming pool with inset spa; and an outdoor fireplace flanked by a pair of tented cabanas, one set up for dining, the other for shaded lounging.
Tedder, who’s written and/or produced major hits for Adele, Taylor Swift and Beyonce, has long maintained a gated compound just outside of downtown Denver, but seems to have come down with a severe case of the Real Estate Fickle when it comes to his L.A. residence: In October 2013, he paid $2.85 million for a contemporary micro-compound in Venice, only to flip it five months later for $2.95 million; and just 10 months ago, he shelled out a tetch less than $7.5 million for another BevHills midcentury modern that he bought from movie producer Gregory Goodman and, as far as we know, never even moved into.
