YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: A Malibu estate owned by French-born former professional freestyle skateboarder turned sneaker and apparel tycoon Pierre-André Senizergues has popped up for sale on the open market at $20 million. Property records indicate Monsieur Senizergues, who owns the ubiquitous Etnies brand among other skateboard-related footwear and apparel brands, acquired the bluff-top spread on prestigious and celeb-favored Point Dume in late 2004 for $10.35 million. Our research shows the gated, compound-like estate has been listed for lease at rates from $40,000 to, most recently, $28,500 per month and was unsuccessfully listed for sale on the open market for most of 2012 and a wee bit of 2013 with an asking price of $14.995 million.
Current online marketing materials show the laid-back and relatively unassuming property, still comfortably expansive and well-amenitied if less grand and/or obsessively manicured than some of its neighbors, spans just over an acre and provides four separate living spaces housed in a trio of Spanish-style white-stucco structures with red tile roofs and colorful tile accents. The modestly sized, single-story main residence has adjoining ocean-view living and dining rooms with vaulted, beamed, and sky light pierced ceilings; brick-shaped terra-cotta tile floors; and banks of French doors to a broad, palm tree-ringed expanse of grass that stretches out to the bluff’s craggy edge. There’s a fireplace with chunky carved stone mantelpiece in the living room and a couple of built-in buffets in the dining room along with a not-particularly up-to-date, utilitarian looking eat-in kitchen. The main residence offers four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms while a separate two-story pool house contributes one more bedroom and two more bathrooms plus a complete kitchen and there are two additional guest units attached to the detached three-car garage, one of them a one bedroom and one bathroom with a kitchenette and the other a studio-style unit with private bathroom. Gravel and stepping stone paths link the various structures that dot the densely treed and casually landscaped grounds that include a swimming pool set into a shady tropical glade and a sunken patio placed right at the precipitous cliff’s edge to take dramatic advantage of the panoramic if vertigo-inducing ocean and coastline views.
A quick peek and poke around various property record databases shows Monsieur Senizergues, long based in California’s Orange County, also owns a 3,354-square-foot traditional that backs up to a tiny pond in the inland section of Newport Beach that was picked up in August of 2008 for $2.7 million as well as a remarkably narrow and very contemporary townhouse-type residence that backs up to a slim fingerlet of Newport Bay.
