YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: After a long and well-documented search, veteran gossip glossy stalwart Paris Hilton was reported by the lady property gossip at the New York Post to have finally picked a full floor penthouse in New York City’s Noho nabe. Miss Hilton paid “just under $4.9 million” for the long and thin 2,396-square-foot apartment that was originally and optimistically priced at $6.25 million and last listed on the open market with a $5.25 million price tag.
Once the queen bee of turn-of-the-21st-century celebutantes, smoky voiced and famously faux-tanned Miss Hilton, now 33, has largely left her drama-courting ditzy blonde sexpot starlet days behind her. Nowadays, the well-connected and entrepreneurial hotel and real estate heiress presides over a veritable empire with almost four dozen eponymous retail stores around the world that hawk her dizzying myriad of self-branded wares (clothing, handbags, watches, etc.). Her cash cow, however, may very well be perfume. The former reality show star has created and/or endorsed 17 fragrances that have hauled in around $2 billion in sales. That’s right, kids, two billion bucks. Say what y’all will about her tawdry, porn tape past and hoo-hoo-flashing youth the lady is — after all and much to the surprise of many naysayers — a money-minting chip off her famous family’s business-minded shoulder. Anyways…
Miss Hilton, who counts among her sprawling menagerie of pint-sized pets a $13,000 Pomeranian puppy named Prince Hilton, opted for a newly created penthouse atop a freshly revamped cast iron building near Astor Place The former warehouse building dates back to 1867, as per the four-unit boutique building’s digital marketing materials, and was repurposed into four pricey apartments by architect Karl Fischer and interior designer Andres Escobar.
Wood floors run throughout the loft-style apartment that has two sky lights, a comprehensive home automation system and a combination living and dining area that’s nearly 40 feet land and anchored by a monumentally scaled marble-faced fireplace. Three over-sized windows face west and an internal staircase ascends to a private, 905-square-foot roof terrace with an urban view towards Washington Square Park.
The sleek kitchen is open to the main living space over a peninsula with three-stool snack counter and is expensively fitted and kitted with a wenge wood-clad center island, super chatoyant white cabinetry, snow white quartz counter tops, marble backsplash and a full complement of top-grade appliances that include an integrated coffee making machine.
The combined master bedroom and dressing area stretches more than 31 feet while the second bedroom measures a measly nine and a half feet wide. The hall bathroom has a glassed in stall shower and the windowless, marble-sheathed master crapper has double sinks, jetted soaking tub and separate glassed-in shower enclosure with built-in marble bench.
Back on the Left Coast, Miss Hilton continues to own an almost 7,500-square-foot mansion in a celebrified, guard-gated enclave in the mountains above Sherman Oaks that she picked up in September 2007 for $5.9 million. Some of her high-profile neighbors include Christina Aguilera, Charlie Sheen, Judith Light, Adrienne Maloof and Vanna White. It was this house, originally done up for Miss Hilton like a VIP room in a Las Vegas nightclub, that was repeatedly burgled several years ago by those silly teens known as The Bling Ring who famously broke in to handfuls of celebrity-owned homes and about whom — it is this property gossip’s useless opinion — Oscar-winner Sofia Coppola made a vapid and depressingly mediocre movie.
