SELLERS: Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis
LOCATION: New York City, NY
PRICE: $3,995,000
SIZE: 1,670 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Engaged and by all accounts blissfully happy actors Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis produced a love child in the spring of 2014 so it comes as no surprise to this jaded property gossip the couple have put their condo in New York City’s once rough now just about tragically trendy Meatpacking District up for sale with an asking price of $3,995,000. (Everybody knows that for the rich and famous a new niño often means a new home…)
Property records show the “Tron” star, who might be best known for her 80-plus episodes on “House M.D.”, and the increasingly in-demand former “Saturday Night Live” stand-out acquired the two bedroom and 2.5 bathroom condo (via trust) in the fall of 2012 for $3.225 million. The seller was celebrity agent Jason Weinberg whose past and present clients include, in addition to Miz Wilde, a slew of Tinseltown luminaries such as Sharon Stone, Demi Moore, Uma Thurman and Penelope Cruz.
Online listing details show the 1,670-square-foot corner condo at the swank and — ahem — ironically named Porter House building has 13-foot ceilings, dark chocolate-colored wood floors, custom-fitted closets, central air conditioning and a laundry closet with stacked washer and dryer. The 22-unit boutique building offers residents, a bike room, a common rooftop deck, individual storage units in the basement and a part-time doorman. (Not that anybody asked but with monthly maintenance charges of $1,846 and another $1,475 in taxes Your Mama wants a full-time doorman, thank you very much.)
The roomy and loft-like but hardly huge main living area has a pair of wonderfully over-sized windows and a bit of built-in cabinetry for board game storage and knickknacks display. The adjoining, galley-style kitchen has thick quartz counter tops on glossy seal grey cabinetry, frosted glass back splashes, commercial-style stainless steel appliances and, in lieu of a lot of overhead cabinetry, a couple of pantries back by the service entrance.
The master bedroom has a double exposure, a walk-in closet and a windowless bathroom with soaking tub, separate glass-enclosed shower and grey and white wall coverings that Your Mama thinks look like stormy cumulus cloud. As per the floor plan included with digital marketing materials, there’s appears to be some sort of semi-secret storage cabinet tucked behind double sink vanity.
In March 2011, around the time it became public she split with her first husband, Italian aristocrat and artsy filmmaker Tao Ruspoli, Miz Wilde dropped $2,295,000 on a circa 1929 Spanish villa in L.A.’s Los Feliz area once owned by master puppeteer Brian Henson. It wasn’t long before she hooked love horns with Mister Sudeikis, decamped for New York City and set out her L.A. house for lease, in the summer of 2011, at $10,000 per month. We don’t know if she ever actually rented the place out but we do find digital evidence the price went up to $11,000 before it dropped to $9,500. In late 2012 the Miz Wilde put the 3,200-square-foot-plus pad for sale on the open market at $2,495,000 and sold it the following June for $2,191,000.
