An elegantly appointed manse on a posh block in the ever-more expensive flats of Beverly Hills, owned by Netflix honcho Ted Sarandos, has come up for sale at $9.35 million. Property records show Sarandos, largely responsible for transforming Netflix into an award-hoovering creator of original streaming content, and wife Nicole Avant, a former ambassador to the Bahamas, acquired the 0.38-acre mini-estate in late 2010 for a sliver more than $5.4 million from fashion designer Max Azria.
A gated motor court separates a detached two-car garage from the nearly 6,200 sq. ft. traditional — we’ll call it a faux-timbered French Country Tudor — that features an immense living room that extends the full length of the house. It opens at the rear through a trio of French doors to a loggia that overlooks the simply landscaped but carefully groomed backyard gardens and swimming pool.
A formal dining room with bay window links the living room to a center-island kitchen fitted with slab marble countertops and all the stainless-steel appliances one can expect in a $9 million manse in Beverly Hills. In addition to a main floor guest bedroom, three en suite family bedrooms share the upper level with a master suite complete with fireplace, private terrace, dual bathrooms and custom-fitted dressing rooms.
That the Sarandos-Avants would like to sell their BevHills home isn’t too much of a surprise since the high-powered pair, who picked up a beachfront house in Malibu in 2010 for $10.2 million from David Spade, recently shelled out close to $16 million for the historic Hancock Park estate sold by newly divorced Hollywood veterans Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas.
