YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Deep pocked software heiress turned high-powered film producer Megan Ellison appears to have caught a classic case of The Real Estate Fickle and flipped a Beverly Hills estate she bought only just over a month ago for $13.5 million back on the market with a notably increased asking price of $14.955 million. The 30-year old founder of Annapurna Pictures purchased the property in an off-market deal from Lynne Wasserman, the only daughter of late and hugely influential Hollywood pioneer Lew Wasserman and the mother of media entrepreneur and sports-management executive Casey Wasserman.
Current listing details, thoughtfully first forwarded by Our Fairy Godmother in Bel Air, show the existing residence, a “sprawling one story Mid-Century Hawaiian Ranch style home built in 1955” and secreted behind high security gates and an even higher hedge on a flat, .88-acre parcel, has five bedrooms and 8 bathrooms in 5,603 square feet. The grounds offer double-gated semi-circular driveway and “huge motor court” along with “beautiful gardens” and a swimming pool.
So the unsubstantiated real estate scuttlebutt we heard went, Miss Ellison planned to rapidly remodel and occupy in the property while she razed and rebuilt her far more extensive multi-residence compound in the nearby Mount Olympus neighborhood that she cobbled together in several transactions between late 2013 and the spring of 2015 at a total cost of about $35 million. Apparently her real estate plans have changed. The Midas-like movie producer, whose growing list of Oscar-nominated projects include “American Hustle,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” and “Her,” also maintains an idiosyncratic, one-bedroom pied-à-terre in a fabled Beaux-Arts style building in downtown New York City that features a massive circular living room with a domed and sky-lit ceiling and was acquired in June 2013 for $2.9 million.
