YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: A 1930s Spanish villa owned by sitcom staple Matt LeBlanc and located on a half-acre lot along the coveted Amalfi Rim in the ritzy Riviera section of Pacific Palisades, CA, and has popped up for sale at $8.75 million. The former “Friends” star, who now stars as a not especially flattering fictionalized version of himself on the Showtime series “Episodes,” acquired the 3,930-square-foot residence in January 2007 for $7.4 million and in 2012 set the property out for lease at $12,995 per month.
Current listings show there are “beamed ceilings, wood floors, original fixtures, ironwork and tiles throughout” the four-bedroom and three-bathroom house that includes a “step-down living room with fireplace, paneled dining room, & cozy library/den” along with a remodeled kitchen and adjacent family room. The back of the house opens to a desirably flat backyard that does not currently have a swimming pool — pity that for $8.75 million — but does make a deep sweep out to the edge of a steep cliff allows for lovely views over Santa Monica Canyon. Marketing materials show the property next door, which is not owned by Mister LeBlanc, is also available at $9.25 million and can be purchased separately or, for the big spender, together.
Our research indicates Mister LeBlanc also owns a 7,971-square-foot, hill-topping contemporary in Encino, CA, as well as the 1,922-square-foot house next door — the two property share one very long gated driveway — plus a 1,000-plus-acre country spread out in the rural Santa Ynez Valley north of Santa Barbara that was picked up in 2002 for an unknown amount.
UPDATE (08-04-16): As it turns out, every property gossip on the planet got this wrong wrong wrong and the house in question here is not owned by Matt LeBlanc but rather Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson who also own two neighboring homes, one of which has also come up for sale at $9.25 million.
