YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: After almost a year on the market and at least one unconsumated escrow, Grammy-winning salsa superstar Marc Anthony has chopped the asking price of his never-lived-in Tarzana mansion to $3,899,000, substantially below the $4.125 million he paid for the then brand spanking new five bedroom and 6.5 bathroom house in January 2015. Anthony originally listed the spec-built, white clapboard clad residence in August 2015 at $4.35 million and later reduced the price to $4.15 million.
Dark brown wide-plank mahogany floorboards run throughout the approximately 6,500-square-foot residence that’s described in current marketing materials as a “New England traditional style home with a California twist.” A central foyer and stair gallery opens to a combination formal living and dining room with large windows that look out on to the driveway while the deluxely outfitted double-island kitchen opens to a breakfast nook and adjoining family room with stacked stone fireplace and a two sets of French doors that lead to the backyard. Four en suite guest/family bedrooms on the second floor are joined by a lounge/den that opens through French doors to a small balcony and a master suite the features a private terrace, fitted walk-in closet with what listings call “delicate glass vitrines” —whatever those are — and a marble bathroom includes twin vanities, a claw-footed soaking tub under a small crystal chandelier, and a glass-enclosed steam shower. The backyard offers a swimming pool and spa, fire pit, bar with built-in grill and beverage fridge, and a gazebo positioned to take advantage of views over the San Fernando Valley.
Anthony previously owned a similarly sized home in a small, gated enclave in Encino that he bought in April 2013 for $2.225 million and sold in April 2015 for $2.425 million to professional basketballer JaVale McGee. And, as far as we can tell, he continues to own an elegantly pastoral eight-plus acre estate in Long Island with a sumptuously appointed 10,000-square-foot mansion that he first put on the market in early 2015 at $12 million. By late 2015 the price had plummeted to $9 million before it was taken off the market in early June 2016.
