With indispensable assists from trusted informants Lucy Spillerguts and Yolanda Yakketyyak, we learned that veteran television actress Kelli Williams (“The Practice,” “Army Wives,” and “The Fosters”) has her stylishly turned-out residence in the scenic, semi-rural community of Ojai up for sale at just under $3 million. Online listings show the property, tucked up into the foothills of the Los Padres National Forest, about 90 miles northwest of Downtown L.A., is pending sale. Williams and writer-producer husband Ajay Sahgal purchased the almost 1.4-acre property via blind trust in March 2012 for a wee bit more than $1 million.
The board-and-batten-clad 1950s farmhouse-style residence has six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms in almost 5,400 square feet over three floors, done up in a fetchingly eclectic boho-chic style. There are rustic-luxe charcoal-gray flagstone floors in the living room and wide-plank floorboards in the long and narrow dining room as well as in the library/media lounge and expensively stocked eat-in kitchen. On the main floor, in addition to the master bedroom, two en suite guest bedrooms are tucked behind the kitchen, and on the upper level, two more en suite bedrooms flank a den with built-in sofa banquette. A bunk room on the lower level has built-in beds. The back of the house opens to a vast, partially covered deck that spans the full width of the house and overlooks a deep expanse of lawn, ringed by mature specimen trees. There are raised-bed vegetable gardens, a spacious chicken coop, and a cozily picayune detached studio/office space.
A rigorous but unscientific search of property records suggests the couple previously owned a 3,500-square-foot house in the Fryman Canyon area of Studio City that was sold in 2012 for a bit less than $2.4 million to four-time Oscar nominated filmmaker Gary Ross.
