BUYER: Judd Hirsch
LOCATION: New York City, N.Y.
PRICE: $400,000
SIZE: (approx.) 300 square feet, studio with one bathroom
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Though he already owns a small one-bedroom apartment he bought just few years ago in a nondescript 1970s tower in a nondescript neighborhood on New York City’s Upper East Side, veteran actor Judd Hirsch has shelled out $400,000 for positively puny, two-room studio apartment on a tree-lined street in Greenwich Village. Interestingly enough and as noted by the fine celebrity property gossips at 6sqft, the seller of the itty-bitty studio was Mister Hirsch’s former assistant, Marlene Mancini.
Based on the figures shown on the floor plan including with online marketing materials, the whole place measures in at under or right about 300nsquare feet. A long, supermodel-thin entrance hall lined practically floor to ceiling with framed photos, theater posters and other whatnots leads to a parquet-floored living/bedroom that isn’t even 10 feet wide but, for what it’s worth, does have a desirable southern exposure and, like the entrance hall, is also hung with scads of framed photos, theater posters and whatnots. The second room, even tinier than the living/bedroom space and also lined with scads of framed gewgaws, manages to accommodate a small dining table pushed up against the wall; a kitchen barely bigger than the dining room table; the apartment’s only and very small closet; and a blessedly windowed bathroom with tile floor and claw-footed tub/shower.
The Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning actor — he also has an Oscar nomination under his belt for the 1981 film “Ordinary People” — can claim a resume as long as a football field but is perhaps best known for his role as the begrudgingly pragmatic Alex Reiger on the late ’70s and early ‘8os sitcom “Taxi.” He currently shakes his moneymaker on the sci-fi/drama cable series “Forever” and is scheduled to appear on the silver screen in the not yet released comedy “Wild Oats” alongside Jessica Lange, Shirley MacLaine and a bunch of other veteran stars.
