YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: So the celebrity real estate scuttlebutt goes, Joe Jonas has rented a sleek Hollywood Hills house listed on the online home rental behemoth Air BNB at a sky-high rate of $2,595 per night with a five night minimum stay and owned, this property gossip happens to know, by actor Balthazar Getty. (Indeed, Mister Jonas’ Instragram account features a couple of images from inside the home in question.) Mister Getty, currently shaking his money maker for the upcoming Showtime reboot of the TV series “Twin Peaks,” purchased the contemporary residence in July 2003 for $2.15 million and recently completed a comprehensive, photogenic, and no doubt brutally costly overhaul spearheaded by Jeffrey Allsbrook of the L.A.-based Standard architecture firm.
Situated on a .71-acre ridgeline plateau above dog-friendly Runyon Canyon in the foothills above Hollywood, the gated and extensively secured mini-compound includes two-story main house — a carefully considered collection of interlocking white stucco and glass volumes — and a single-story four-room guesthouse that together comprise more than 7,000-square-feet of with a total of seven bedrooms and eight full and three half bathrooms. Rental listings show the main house includes an airy living room with fireplace set between floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, an adjoining dining room “the length of a small bowling alley,” and a “state-of-the-art kitchen” where slab marble counter tops waterfall over the ends of a super-sized work island. The fireplace in the living room opens on its backside to a separate den; there’s a roomy media lounge in the guesthouse; and expansive banks of floor-to-ceiling glass sliders throughout the house and guesthouse open to a series of terraces with multiple fire pits, a dark bottom swimming pool, and sweeping that on a clear day extend all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
Mister Jonas, freshly split from newly minted supermodel Gigi Hadid, daughter of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member Yolanda Foster, may soon be in the market for a new house since he’s just sold his much more traditional house on a busy West Hollywood street for at or around its $2.895 million asking price. Lucky for him, if he likes his test drive of Mister Balthazar’s perch in the Hollywood Hills it’s also for sale with an asking price of $10.25 million.
As it turns out, Joe isn’t the only Jonas brother leasing from a entertainment industry mover and shaker: His younger brother Nick rents his L.A. residence from real estate obsessed chat show host Ellen DeGeneres.
