YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: A gated Beverly Hills estate long owned but not occupied by late and bestselling pulp novelist Jackie Collins has been sold in an off-market deal for $6.75 million to a Beverly Hills businessman who, so swears all but omniscient real estate yenta Yolanda Yakketyyak, leased the property from Miz Collins for at least the last few years.
The mid-sized mansion, set behind an unattractive wrought iron fence on a .39-acre corner parcel just a few blocks from Rodeo Drive, does not appear to have been listed on the open market. However, property record databases and other online resources show the large and conveniently located but otherwise architecturally banal 7,537-square-foot two-story main house has 5 principal bedrooms plus two staff bedrooms and a total 7.5 bathrooms. A separate, self-contained guesthouse has a full kitchen and bathroom. The property isn’t large enough to accommodate a tennis court but in addition to its double-gated driveway at the front of the house includes huge entertainment terraces at the back along with a classic kidney-shaped swimming pool and circular spa.
At the time of her September 2015 passing, Miz Collins, who sold more than half of a billion books and had eight of her 32 characteristically racy, easy-reading novels turned into movies, owned a small handful of multi-million dollar homes in Los Angeles including a ranch-style residence in the Stone Canyon area of Bel Air that occasionally popped up as a luxury rental over the last few years and, per property records, remains unsold. The bestselling writer’s main residence, a lavishly appointed 18,177-square-foot “Miami Vice” style contemporary behemoth, also in the Flats of BevHills, was sold amid beaucoup publicity for $21 million to commercial real estate mogul Ben Nehmadi who, per property records, additionally shelled out another $9 million for the mansion next door that had also been owned by Miz Collins for decades and leased at the time of her death to Al Pacino. A representative of Mister Nehmadi, who already owns a 10,500-square-foot mansion less than a mile away, told The Wall Street Journal they plan to move in to Miz Collins’ mansion and, though Mister Pacino will “remain in place” as a tenant, may in the future use the smaller mansion for guests.
