Gregory Goodman, producer of money-minting movies like “X-Men: First Class” (and exec producer on “8 Mile” and “Captain Phillips”) and his garden-designer husband, Paul Langh, quietly sold their sexy, low-slung home in Beverly Hills’ trendy and terrifically expensive Trousdale Estates ’hood last December for just under $7.5 million. However, it’s only recently come to this property gossip’s attention, via trusted tipster Yolanda Yakketyyak, that the retro-glammy abode’s new owner is music industry mover and shaker Ryan Tedder, frontman for pop-rock band OneRepublic and a much-in-demand music producer and songwriter. Mister Tedder has created radio-friendly ditties for a slew of pop stars (e.g., Madonna, Taylor Swift and Beyonce) and in 2012, took home a Grammy as the co-writer and co-producer of Adele’s megahit album “21.”
Listing details show the “meticulously restored” residence, purchased by Goodman and Langh in April 2007 for just a scosche under 3.9 million smackers, and briefly listed in 2012 for a tetch less than six million bucks, has four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in not quite 4,400 square feet. Designed by pioneering Googie architects Lundberg, Armet & Davis, the 1959 residence marries newfangled technologies and updated kitchens and bathrooms with classic midcentury finishes and features like floor-to-ceiling windows and glass sliders, a mix of terrazzo and wenge-wood floors, and a sensually curved walnut wet bar. Entire walls of glass make for a seamless integration with the outdoor entertaining areas that include a roomy covered patio, a swimming pool ringed by extensive red brick terracing, and exuberant gardens designed, naturally, by Mister Langh.
Shortly after they sold their BevHills house, Goodman and Langh plunked down almost $4 million for a three-acre estate in Santa Barbara anchored by a 5,423-square-foot New England-style residence with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. As for Tedder, he briefly owned a modern-minded micro-compound in Venice, Calif., purchased in October 2013 for $2.85 million, and quickly flipped five months later for a hair under $3 million; he continues to own a three-parcel estate in a gated enclave just outside downtown Denver.
