SELLER: Robert “Bobby” Dekeyser
LOCATION: New York City, N.Y.
PRICE: $8.2 million
SIZE: 2,391 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: The always deliciously informed lady property gossip at the New York Post reported today that perennially hot-to-trot actress Gina Gershon and her ruggedly handsome and bountifully silver-maned man-friend, Belgian-German entrepreneur Robert “Bobby” Dekeyser — a former soccer professional whose many global professional endeavors include the upscale outdoor furniture maker and lifestyle brand DEDON — sold a duplex apartment in a much-ballyhooed, terra-cotta and stainless steel-clad building in New York City’s Chelsea nabe for $8.2 million.
For the record, butter beans, property records we peeped at show it was Mister Dekeyser and only Mister Dekeyser who purchased the 2,391-square-foot condo in June 2012 for $6.6 million. The three bedroom and 3.5 bathroom, Hudson River view apartment was first listed in April 2014 with an optimistic $9.5 million pricetag that was eventually dropped to $8.5 million. (As we type our fingers to the nubbin, transaction records have not reached the digital realm, but the listing agent’s website suggests the sale price may have been $8.125 million.)
The somewhat quirky if impeccably decorated duplex — did y’all note the swing in the living room and the feather head-dressed religious statue in the dining area? — has darkened teak floors, massive casement windows, 23-foot ceilings in the corner living room, a stainless steel-and-teak-accented kitchen, a Pyrolave-sheathed master bedroom, automated shades and integrated speaker system and — the what listing details call an “en-suite Sky Garage, a garage located alongside the apartment that houses a car transported via a car elevator to your front door.”
Other high-profile owners in the lauded, Annabelle Selldorf-designed building include Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban; Italian fashion designer Domenico Dolce, who in 2009 dropped $29 million for a pair of penthouses that total more than 8,000 square feet; Picasso’s art historian granddaughter, Diana Widmaier-Picasso; Swedish property developer Oscar Engelbert; and former Goldman Sachs vice chairman Robert “Bob” Hurst, whose Hamptons estate, some of the children may recall, was listed a couple of years ago with a $65 million asking price.
Since Your Mama does not know Mister Dekeyser or Miz Gershon personally, we can’t really say whether Miz Gershon had any legal ownership of the condo or even if the uncommonly comely twosome occupied the penthouse as a couple. However, property records and other digitally accessible sources do reveal that Miz Gershon owns a loft-style one bedroom and one bathroom apartment — in the same TriBeCa building where Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s screenwriter mother Naomi Foner bought a $1.5 million apartment in 2013 — that she picked up in 2006 for $775,000 and, for the last four or more years, has had up for lease at a variety of prices between $7,500 and $9,800 per month.
