Listing details show the high-floor apartment has 3-4 bedrooms and three bathrooms in about 2,500 square feet. A cursory glance at listing photographs and a quick glimpse of the floor plan included with digital marketing materials reveals the apartment itself, while certainly much larger than most New Yorkers’ apartments, is really no great shakes. The dining nook off the living room is tight, the rental-grade kitchen even tighter, and the master bathroom, which does appear to be equipped with a steam shower, isn’t even attached to the master bedroom but rather inconveniently and not particularly privately situated across the hall. Of course, Mister Rivera can no doubt more than afford to undertake whatever alterations and customizations might be required to gussy the place up, including perhaps a reconfiguring that would allow for a property master suite, but let’s be honest, children, the real value in this apartment is its proximity to Central Park and the thrilling, all but unobstructed, city, park and sky vistas that fill the generously sized windows. Listing details show the combo-condo, which carries monthly fees of $5,399, comes with four parking spaces in the on-site garage — a rare and expensive commodity in Manhattan to be sure — and the 250-ish-unit complex provides residents a fully staffed lobby, a wrap around roof-top terrace, indoor pool, health club, party room, and children’s play room.
Mister Rivera, now in his early 70s and fit as a fiddle to hear and see him go on about it, and his substantially younger fifth wife, former television producer Erica Levy, already own a smaller, 1,650-square-foot unit on a slightly lower floor they picked up in 2011 for $3.4 million. And, as far as we know, the couple continue to maintain one and possibly two homes in the Edgewater Colony, a leafy, discreet and downright charming Hudson River-side cooperative enclave of multimillion dollar cottages in Edgewater, N.J., with oblique but up-close views of the George Washington Bridge.
