A Beverly Hills house with a long history of showbiz residents has come up for sale at a tetch less than $7.4 million. The current owners, Emmy-winning writer-producers Shana Goldberg-Meehan and Scott Silveri — both of whom wrote and produced sitcoms “Friends” and “Joey” — acquired the historic hacienda, per property records, in spring 2007 for $5.6 million, and various online resources reveal previous occupants include Donovan Leitch, Elliot Gould, Boris Karloff, Leland Hayward and showbiz icon Katharine Hepburn, who shacked up there in the 1940s and — so the stories go — thought the place was haunted.
Originally built in 1927, the upper Coldwater Canyon residence sits on almost an acre behind a towering hedge and is configured with five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in just under 5,000 square feet, with whitewashed masonry walls, terra-cotta tile floors, exposed wood ceilings, and half a dozen fireplaces. There are formal living and dining rooms, a brick-floored family room with extra-wide bowed bay window, an office/library, a sky-lit barroom nook, and an expensively updated kitchen with built-in dining banquette and vintage range.
