SELLER: Shaun White
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
PRICE: $2,195,000
SIZE: 2,036 square feet, 2-3 bedrooms, 2. 5 bathrooms
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: A recently remodeled 1960s contemporary perched above L.A.’s Sunset Strip and owned by two-time Olympic gold medal winning snowboarder Shaun White has come up for sale with an asking price of $2.195 million. Property records show the ginger-haired half-pipe daredevil, who also plays guitar in a rock band called Bad Things, purchased the property via corporate entity in March 2009 for $1.7 million.
The low-slung residence, on a quarter-acre parcel sits up a long driveway shared by four other homes including one previously owned by Fred Savage who sold it to Jason Biggs in 2007 for $2.249 million who, in turn, sold it a couple of months ago, in July 2015, for $2.565 million. Per current listing details there are two bedrooms plus a den/third bedroom and 2.5 bathrooms in 2,036-square-feet. Reddish-toned dark brown floors in the living room are mirrored on the ceiling with similarly stained wood cladding and wide banks of floor-to-ceiling glass sliders on opposite walls flood the room with light. One end of the room is anchored by a television-surmounted fireplace flanked by open shelves where it appears to this property gossip Mister White keeps at least a handful of his many professional accolades and glass sliders open one side of the room to a compact, terra-cotta tiled courtyard jam-packed with a plunge pool, slightly elevated spa, and a built-in barbecue. A butcher-block topped center island snack bar divides the dining area from a sky-lit kitchen fitted with higher quality stainless steel appliances and light countertops of unknown material on ebony-painted wood cabinets. All three bedrooms have glass sliders that open to a meandering deck with panoramic view over the L.A. basin towards the downtown skyline and a cut out in one of the walls in the master bedroom reveals the otherwise windowless bathroom done up with bead board wainscoting topped by striped wallpaper, brass fixtures, a claw-footed soaking tub, steam shower and an identical pair of pedestal sinks over-mounted with circular mirrors
Our research shows that in addition to his Sunset Strip digs, young Mister White, now in his late 20s and shorn of his signature shoulder-length locks, owns a handful of other properties that include: A fairly ordinary tract house in a gated development in the ocean-side community of Carlsbad, CA, purchased in 2003 for $646,500; A two-bedroom and three-bathroom condominium pied-a-terre in the snow sport haven of Park City, UT, that, as it turns out, is currently listed for lease at $2,000 per month; A freshly rehabbed beachfront residence in Encinitas, CA, that he picked up in 2012 for $3.85 million and set out for lease earlier this summer at $12,500 per month; And, finally, a bluff-top compound that overlooks Zuma Beach on Malibu’s Point Dume that was acquired by the Double McTwister in October 2013 for $8.94 million.
