YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: It was real estate yenta Yolanda Yakketyyak who first clued us in and property records do indeed confirm that veteran Tinseltowner and gossip glossy staple Charlie Sheen secretly sold one of his three mansions inside the guarded gates of the Mulholland Estates development in an off-market deal for $6.6 million. The long-troubled former “Two And A Half Men” star, once one of the highest paid actors on television, recently told “The Today Show” his financial situation wasn’t as rosy as it once since he’d paid out around $10 million to nefarious characters who threatened to expose his positive HIV diagnosis. And, unfortunately for Mister Sheen and his suffering finances, he took a substantial $400,000 loss on the Beverly Hills Post Office property that he picked up in March 2011 for $6,999,999 million from entertainment industry mover and shaker Mike Medavoy.
Since the deal went down off-market we didn’t turn up any current online marketing materials but older listings and other digital resources reveal the unquestionably luxurious if otherwise fairly ordinary 9,020-square foot mock-Med macmansion offers a double-height entrance hall with a curved staircase, formal living and dining rooms, and a library with built-in bookshelves. Family spaces spoke off a sizable center island kitchen that opens to an informal dining nook while the family room spills out through a wide a bank of transom-topped glass doors a heated loggia that gives way to a flat patch of lawn, a swimming pool with elevated spa, and a sunken outdoor kitchen/grilling station.
As far as this property gossip knows, Mister Sheen never occupied the mansion himself but instead lent it to his ex-wife Denise Richards while she gutted and glammed up her own mansion in the guard-gated Hidden Hills enclave that she put up for sale last summer at $7.749 million. In the fall of 2014 it was reported that Mister Sheen planned to sell the property to his personal dentist, Kevin Sands, but that deal went apparently south for unknown reasons and the new owner, according to good ol’ Yolanda, is a private equity mogul who already owns a smaller house just around the corner that property records show he acquired about 3.5 years ago for $5.625 million.
As of today, Sheen continues to own two other luxury homes in the Mulholland Estates enclave. His primary residence is a 7,924-square-foot faux-Tuscan villa with five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms that he acquired in April 2006 for $7.2 million — the scene of much of his very public and well documented 2011 melt down — and in October 2012 he paid billionaire investor Tom Gores $4.8 million for a 6,625-square-foot villa that we’ve heard through the celebrity real estate gossip grapevine he also plans sell. Other high-profilers who own homes in the Mulholland Estates enclave include Paris Hilton, Vanna White, Judith Light, Adrienne Maloof, and Robbie Williams who recently decamped to a humongous Beverly Hills estate he snapped up a couple of months ago for $32 million.
