It was the Bizzy Boys at Celebrity Address Aerial who first let us know that Andie MacDowell recently shelled out a smitch more than $1.26 million in a hush-hush, off-market deal for the Los Feliz home of Jonathan Karsh, documentary filmmaker (“My Flesh and Blood”) and reality television producer (“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”).
Listed on the open market in the spring of 2013 at $1.2 million, and again during the spring and summer of 2014 for $1.25 million, the circa 1931 Spanish measures in at a humble, by celebrity standards, 2,275 square feet, with 3-4 bedrooms and two bathrooms. Listing photographs from 2014 show a living room with fireplace and chunky, exposed-wood ceiling beams and an adjacent dining room with Saltillo tile flooring that continues into the compact-but-updated eat-in kitchen. A small den with kiva-style fireplace adjoins a slightly less petite family room with built-in bookshelves and French doors that open to a trellis-shaded dining deck with built-in bench seating. The tree-shaded backyard includes in-ground spa, detached two-car garage and over-the-rooftops canyon and mountain views.
MacDowell, currently starring in Hallmark Channel original drama series “Cedar Cove,” has been on a bit of a real estate tear the past few years. In May 2012, she sold a nearly 11,000-square-foot, faux-timbered Tudor near Asheville, N.C., for $3 million, and in early 2013, she dropped $1.775 million on a 3,000-square-foot 1980s contemporary in Marina del Rey, which she sold at a small loss just eight months later, for $1.75 million.
