YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: In April, giggle-prone CNN talking head Anderson Cooper listed one of the two creek-front houses he owns in the sleepy and little-lauded Hamptons community of Quiogue with an asking price of $2,999,000. Now, we first heard from the fine folk at Redin, Mister Cooper’s put his other house — located right next door to the one already for sale — up for grabs with a $3,599,000 price tag.
Mister Cooper — who last month shelled out a few million bucks for a pastorally postcard perfect 210-acre estate in Litchfield County, CT — picked up the 2.32 acre creek-front spread in Quiogue in 2003 for $1.15 million. Current listing details are a mite slim but do show the fully renovated and updated single-story shingled cottage was originally built in 1928 as the sports club for a much larger nearby estate. The meandering, 9-room multi-winged abode currently has four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and two fireplaces in about 3,800 square feet. At the head of the property’s long driveway is a detached two car garage and set well away from the house in woods-ringed clearing there’s a swimming pool and hot tub with blue stone sunbathing patio. Much of the water front is bulk headed and provides convenient parking for several watercraft.
In addition to his two up-for-sale homes in the Hamptons and the newly acquired estate in Connecticut with its dour 10,000-plus-square-foot mansion Mister Cooper’s property portfolio also includes an 8,400-plus-square-foot converted firehouse residence in New York City’s Greenwich Village that he purchased in September 2009 for $4.3 million.
