Thirteen-time Emmy-winning live-event producer Don Mischer sold his long-time home in a discreet if remarkably celeb-steeped enclave tucked up into the mansion-dotted mountains above Beverly Hills to 10-time Grammy-winning British chanteuse Adele for $9.5 million.
Mischer, whose mile long list of impressive credits include several Super Bowl halftime shows and President Obama’s 2009 inaugural celebration, purchased the property in 1991 for $2 million and first put the Dutch Colonial-style residence up for sale in the fall of 2015 at $10.75 million.
Marketing materials show that the gated and not-quite-6,600-square-foot home has four bedrooms and six bathrooms along with a double-height entry, two formal living rooms — both with fireplaces — a dining room, an office with a built-in desk, and a second floor library loft with a vaulted ceiling. The cook’s kitchen opens to a family room with a bookshelf-flanked fireplace and French doors that open to a well-stocked backyard with stone terraces, a swimming pool, a gazebo with a porch swing, a dog run, and a tree house.
Should Adele invite her new neighbors to a housewarming party, some of her guests might include Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis; Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem; Cameron Diaz, who bought her compound from Candice Bergen in 2010 for almost $9.5 million; and Zoe Saldana, the recent buyer of a freshly rehabbed Colonial Revival residence sold for $8.7 million and once owned by Kimora Lee Simmons. Jennifer Lawrence, one of Adele’s close gal pals, owns a house just around the corner that she bought in 2014 from ailing media tycoon Sumner Redstone’s ludicrously younger former-lady-friend Sydney Holland for a bit more than $8.2 million. That house was previously owned by a laundry list of famous folk including Ellen DeGeneres and Jessica Simpson.
Back in the U.K., the rolling-in-dough singer is said to own side-by-side townhouses situated in a natty London neighborhood and purchased in two transactions for a total outlay of about $13 million, as well as a seaside retreat in Hove near Brighton reportedly snapped up in 2012 for about $3.8 million.
