Though it might well indeed have been love at first sight four years ago, Jojo Moyes has now decided to part ways with her stunning Spanish Revival-style estate high atop the bustling Sunset Strip. Property records show that the London-born romance novelist and screenwriter — “Me Before You,” “The Last Letter from Your Lover,” “The Giver of Stars” — recently adhered a $4.65 million price tag to the Hollywood Hills home she paid $3.7 million for back in 2018.
Tucked securely away behind walls and gates, amid a double parcel of land sited less than a mile from Sunset Plaza, the stucco and terracotta-roof structure features four bedrooms and 4.5 baths in almost 4,000 square feet. Originally built in 1931, the home boasts three stories of modernizing living space punctuated throughout with period details like stained-glass windows, arched doorways, colorful tile work, vintage lighting and vaulted ceilings.
Among the main-level highlights are a formal living room sporting a fireplace, along with two sets of French doors that open to a spacious balcony overlooking treetop and city lights views. An updated gourmet kitchen outfitted with marble countertops, high-end stainless appliances and a walk-in pantry connects to casual and formal dining areas, and an en-suite bedroom also can be found on this floor.
A curving wrought-iron staircase off the foyer heads upstairs, where a duo of master-sized bedroom suites come equipped with walk-in closets and luxe baths; and the lower level holds a movie theater and an additional en-suite bedroom, plus access to an expansive covered loggia that leads to a flat grassy lawn hosting a large pool and spa. There’s also an attached two-car garage.
Moyes, 52, is one of only a few authors to have won the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s “Romantic Novel of the Year” award twice. The British author recently gained attention stateside after her bestselling novel, “The Last Letter from Your Lover,” was adapted into a Netflix movie starring Shailene Woodley and Felicity Jones.
Juliette Hohnen of Douglas Elliman serves as the listing agent for Moyes’ Hollywood Hills estate.
