Back in the mid-1990s — shortly before she was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame for her work on hit sitcoms ranging from “Mork & Mindy,” to “Happy Days” and “Soap” — Marcy Carsey doled out just over $1.1 million for this traditional East Coast-style residence in Pacific Palisades, though it’s believed she never actually lived here. For much of the last 28 years, the house has been primarily occupied by a close familial relative.
Now the prolific real estate investor has decided to hoist this particular property up for sale, asking $4.3 million — a substantial but unsurprising jump above what the retired Hollywood producer, 78, paid for the place just shy of three decades ago.
For that price, the buyer will lay claim to a gray-shingled structure that was built in the late 1980s, and features five bedrooms and five baths in a little more than 3,100 square feet of two-level living space boasting hardwood floors, built-ins, skylights and high wood-beam ceilings throughout.
Nestled behind gates, the nearly quarter-acre parcel is fronted by a small fenced-in yard and brick walkway that empties out at a covered entryway. Once inside, a foyer flows to a formal dining room with an integrated buffet on one side, and glass-lined living room sporting a fireplace tucked between built-in benches on the other. The kitchen is outfitted with a center island, stainless appliances, a pantry and breakfast nook that connects to a fireside family room with French doors spilling outside. The main floor also hosts a flexible bedroom/office suite.
Holding court upstairs are four additional bedrooms, including a master suite resting beneath a pitched ceiling, and displaying a fireplace, walk-in closet, and blue-tiled bath equipped with a soaking tub and shower. A brick-clad balcony overlooks the private backyard, which hosts a pool and spa flanked by a wood lounging deck, along with a detached two-car garage and spacious motorcourt that doubles as an al fresco dining area.
In addition to the Pacific Palisades property, Carsey owns at least 11 other multimillion-dollar homes spread across Southern California, from Brentwood to Montecito, including a $100 million estate on Malibu’s Encinal Bluffs, right next door to Kim Kardashian’s new vacation digs. But since the late ’90s, her primary residence has been a sizable estate in L.A.’s posh Brentwood Park neighborhood.
