With a big new four-year deal with Sony Pictures TV inked just last month, it’s no surprise that the merry trio of “Cobra Kai” creators are feeling flush. After all, their show — a continuation of the original “Karate Kid” series and originally a YouTube-only exclusive — is now hugely successful on Netflix, where it’s earned Emmy nominations and already been renewed through season five.
A huge production deal begets blossoming bank accounts, and the three “Cobra Kai” creators, executive producers and showrunners — Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald — have all upgraded their residential circumstances over the past few months, investing in pricey new Los Angeles homes.
Schlossberg picked up a new Pacific Palisades house over the summer, paying $7.7 million for the stately property. But Hurwitz and Heald have headed to a different part of town, where they’ve dropped $6.6 million and $7 million, respectively, on two nearly-identical mansions just a couple blocks apart. Located in L.A.’s family-friendly Cheviot Hills neighborhood, the two homes are both two-story traditionals with full basements and two-car garages, and both were built within the past couple of years
Since neither house was ever officially on the market, photos and details are scant. But the $7 million Heald house (below) was completed in 2019 and features a subtle two-tone façade of white stucco and brick painted a creamy off-white. There are six bedrooms and eight bathrooms in about 6,700 square feet of mansion-sized living space, and the nearly 10,000-square-foot lot (about 0.23 acres) has a backyard swimming pool and grassy lawn.

As for Hurwitz, his new $6.6 million digs (below) lie an easy walk and only a couple of streetcorners away from the Heald home. Like the Heald property, the house was also built on speculation, though his place has a vaguely Cape Cod element to it, and was completed only this summer. The home itself — measuring in at roughly the same size as the Healds’ — sits on a lot measuring just over 9,000 square feet (about 0.21 acres) and likewise offers a backyard swimming pool.

First developed in the 1920s, Cheviot Hills is a centrally-located Los Angeles neighborhood with relatively easy access to the 10 freeway, Beverly Hills, Century City, Downtown L.A. and the Westside. The area includes the prestigious Hillcrest Country Club, and has recently become highly popular with well-to-do, family-oriented Tinseltown residents who appreciate the laidback, less-stuffy nature of the neighborhood — at least compared to those traditionally more wealthy neighborhoods immediately to the north.
Prices have risen accordingly; originally a middle-class neighborhood, today the asking price for an all-new Cheviot Hills home can exceed $7 or even $8 million.
