Attorney turned legal drama and crime thriller specialist Lukas Reiter, writer and executive producer of the long-running James Spader-starring series “The Blacklist,” has made a clandestine off-market sale of his celeb-pedigreed home in L.A.’s Sherman Oaks.
The $5.15 million sale price represents a nice profit on the comfortably stylish modern farmhouse-style home that Reiter and his actress wife Elizabeth Bogush scooped up almost four years ago for $3.7 million from boy band icon and actor Joe Jonas. Jonas took a net loss on the property; he paid $3.7 million for the house just over a year prior.
Secured behind gates and obscured by tall hedges and mature trees, the roughly 5,600-square-foot home was described in marketing materials as a serene, safe and sophisticated sanctuary imbued with bespoke craftsmanship, carefully curated design details, and a warm and modern yet timeless vibe. The long entrance gallery and a well-equipped butler’s pantry link the formal living and dining areas to a spacious great room that comprises a gleaming kitchen with commercial-style appliances, a sun-filled informal dining area, and a family room with a fireplace flanked by built-ins. A wall of glass folds open for an easy link to the backyard.
The four bedrooms and four bathrooms, plus two powder rooms, include a pair of bedrooms suitable for use as the primary suite. Other highlights include automated window coverings, a high-end Savant home automation system, and state-of-the-art home theater with stadium seating and top-end sound system.
The long and narrow, quarter-acre mid-block parcel is ringed with towering hedges that blot out neighboring homes and manicured with simple plantings and emerald carpets of high-quality artificial turf. Beyond the stone-tiled loggia that’s outside the kitchen and family room, past the built-in grill and the spa that spills over a tiled wall into the aquamarine swimming pool, a poolside cabana offers an outdoor shower and an indoor bathroom.
Given Reiter’s solid TV career — earlier credits include “The Practice,” “Boston Legal,” and “Close to Home,” while “The Blacklist” was renewed earlier this year for at 10th season — it would not be surprising if he’s headed for a real estate upgrade. As for Jonas and wife Sophie Turner, they sold up their L.A. holdings and relocated last year to an $11 million waterfront mansion in Miami.
