Amy Ziering already lays claim to two Los Angeles residences — a historic Craftsman in Highland Park acquired for $1.2 million in 2017, plus a 1940s Brentwood house she picked up more than two decades ago for a mere $400,000. But the Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated producer/director has decided to expand her local real estate portfolio, this time doling out $5.9 million for some modern canal-front digs in Venice.
Best known for producing bombshell investigative documentaries like “On the Record,” “The Hunting Ground” and “Allen v. Farrow,” Ziering is half of the Jane Doe Films production team with longtime partner Kirby Dick. Most recently, the pair collaborated with Vanity Fair on a short documentary and exposé chronicling sexual harassment and assault accusations leveled by former co-stars against the late comedian/actor Jerry Lewis.
Built in 2013, Ziering’s new property rests on a compact 0.06-acre parcel along the Venice Canals, and features four bedrooms and five baths in nearly 4,000 square feet of light-filled living space. There are steel-framed doors and windows, wide-plank French oak floors, imported tile, Fantini fixtures, Flos lights and wood-beam ceilings throughout, and glitzy amenities include an elevator, gym and sauna, screening and game rooms, a Crestron smart-home system and Tesla charger in the attached two-car garage.
Among the highlights are a fireside living room sporting sliding glass doors spilling out onto a private al fresco dining and lounging terrace holding a fire-pit and built-in barbecue. Adjoining the living room is a chandelier-topped dining area, which connects to a sleekly designed gourmet kitchen outfitted with Miele appliances, a spacious eat-in island and walk-in pantry.
A steel-trimmed staircase leads to the second level, where the master retreat boasts a cozy fireplace, French doors overlooking canal views, and a luxe bath with dual vanities, a soaking tub and glass-encased shower. Two more en-suite bedrooms also can be found on this floor, while the top level holds most of the house’s amenities and leads to a two-tiered roof deck perfect for entertaining amid the picturesque surroundings.
Sandro Dazzan of The Agency served as the listing agent; Elisabeth Halsted of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties repped the buyer.
