Malibu real estate is hot right now, and one person attempting to take advantage of that spring thaw is longtime area resident Robyn Moore, who has saddled her impressive oceanfront home with a $32 million ask. The Australian former dental nurse, 60, remains best known to the public for her 30-year marriage to Mel Gibson, which produced seven children and a bevy of salacious headlines — particularly surrounding the pair’s 2011 divorce. (The $425 million settlement Moore reportedly received is widely believed to have made theirs the most expensive celebrity split of all time.)
Set on a double-wide — or maybe it’s a triple-wide — lot that spans more than an acre of flat land, the Moore compound boasts more than 100 feet of frontage on Malibu’s desirable Broad Beach. The property also boasts something unusual for the area: a pedigree from celebrated traditionalist architect Gerard Colcord, who designed the charming Cape Cod-slash-Colonial home, which sits behind gates done up in a dreamy shade of dark gray.
The seaside estate was reportedly once owned by Neil Simon, though in more recent years it was the long-term residence of Susan Disney Lord, a grand-niece of Walt Disney himself. Moore paid Disney Lord $18.2 million for the property in 2014, significantly under the original $28 million ask. In the seven years since, the place has undergone a decorative refresh that resulted in the attractive, clean-lined structure seen here.
