He’s not exactly a household name, but if you happen to be one of Tubi’s 51 million monthly active users, you’ve subscribed to the handiwork of Farhad Massoudi. As founder of the free ad-supported streaming service, Massoudi has seen his creation grow exponentially since its 2014 launch. In 2020, Fox Entertainment acquired the San Francisco-based operation for a whopping $440 million — so Massoudi is now a very rich man, with ample cash to acquire an ultra-luxe Beverly Hills mansion.
Records show Massoudi, who stayed on as CEO of Tubi, has doled out $12 million for the contemporary home, which was originally listed for nearly $14.9 million before going to him at a hefty discount. Reportedly once owned by both the late “Top Gun” director Tony Scott and veteran film producer Bill Gerber (“A Star Is Born”) the recently revamped premises were crafted by James Magni of Magni Kalman Design in collaboration with Kovac Design Studio.
Nestled in the Beverly Hills Post Office area, on over a quarter-acre parcel of land fronted by a three-car garage and custom stainless entry gate, the boxy white structure features four bedrooms and six baths in just over 5,500 square feet of living space. Two levels of clean-lined interiors stun with Terrazzo floors and high ceilings, plus walls of glass providing seamless indoor-outdoor spaces paired with sweeping ocean and city lights views.
Among the main-level highlights: a gallery-style entrance that leads to a spacious lounge area adorned with a wet bar and temperature-controlled wine cooler, along with a formal dining room and an attractive living room centered around a striking marble fireplace.
A screening room boasting a blu-ray theater system also also stands out on the first floor, as does a sleekly designed kitchen decked out with a quartz-topped island, Eurostone countertops, high-end Wolf, Miele and Sub-Zero appliances, and an adjoining butler’s pantry and built-in banquette for casual dining.
Holding court all by itself on the second level is a sumptuous master retreat, which displays custom-stained rift oak floors and bleached sycamore cabinetry, and comes complete with a mini-bar, private terrace sporting a fire-pit and yoga/meditation garden, and dual walk-in closets and baths.
The posh amenities continue in the resort-like backyard, which hosts a lengthy pool surrounded by a sundeck, a covered entertainment pavilion with a kitchen and bar setup, and several al fresco dining and entertaining areas. Topping it all off are Savant and Lutron smart-home systems.
