Turks and Caicos, which has garnered notoriety in recent years as a favored retreat for the very rich and very famous, is a tropical Atlantic archipelago located 575 miles southeast of Miami and 75 miles north of the Dominican Republic. The area’s famed white-sand beaches lie along 100 named islands and cays, but only nine of those islands are inhabited. As the name suggests, the country is made up of two distinct groups of islands. The Turks are to the east; the Caicos in the west.
The ritziest new Turks and Caicos development is the 31-acre South Bank Resort and Marina community, which lies on Long Bay Beach in Providenciales — the country’s tourism hub. And in this community that an all-new luxury penthouse, likely the most expensive ever offered for sale in Turks and Caicos, is located. Designed by internationally renowned architect Piero Lissoni, the so-called Penthouse at Arc is asking $20 million. It’s listed by Turks and Caicos Sotheby’s International Realty.
When designing the Arc, Lissoni drew inspiration from the surrounding archipelago and natural elements historically used in local architecture. Exteriors display a coastal personality, incorporating expansive and lush private gardens, wooden screens, various enclosures and sun filters. To allow a seamless transition from indoor to outdoor living, Arc’s cascading, stepped architecture will create large overhangs that offer shaded outside spaces, maximizing the functionality of the gardens, pools and al fresco living areas.
Nature is incorporated into the homes’ interiors as well, with a neutral color palette and the use of wood and stone to provide a sophisticated yet comfortable Caribbean character throughout the condos.
Extremely spacious at 5,400 square feet, the penthouse includes five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms. The 7,000 square foot terrace wraps about the condo, including a large private pool, gardens, and plenty of space for dining and relaxing. The unit will also transfer with a dedicated boat slip for vessels up to 150 ft — a very rare amenity in Turks and Caicos.
The penthouse also, of course, includes access to the amenities at South Bank, including butler and private chef service; a one-of-a-kind swimming lagoon with lounging islands in the center; a fully serviced marina and boat concierge; chic beachfront cabanas; two energizing fitness centers; a world-class spa; tennis and pickleball courts; two private pools with a jacuzzi and a fire pit lounge; and rare yet direct access to the serene Long Bay Beach.
