Look all you want throughout Brooklyn but you won’t find anything else like this bad boy, a terraced penthouse in Williamsburg that’s incredible inside and out, night and day.
Filled with art, some of which is also for sale, the condo was completely reimagined by architect David Bucovy. The duplex penthouse offers 360-degree views and in addition to a trio of balconies, there’s a spectacular private rooftop terrace with a custom cedar hot tub to take in the amazing view of Manhattan’s skyline. The unique home is available for sale at $7.995 million, or for rent at $30,000 a month, via John Chubet at Compass.
A keyed elevator leads to this aerie, which measures a bit more than 1,700 square feet, with two bedrooms and three bathrooms. The great room soars three stories high, with a huge and glitzy crystal chandelier and a curved wall of floor-to-ceiling glass that provides unforgettable sunset views, not to mention a great place to put a baby grand piano. A fireplace warms the room on chilly evenings, and exposed blackened iron beams give a nod to Williamsburg’s industrial past.
The voluminous space is enlivened with contemporary artwork: the large painting of a little girl on a yellow background is by Ferrari Sheppard, very popular with celebs these days, and the picture of the green dress and pink bow tie is by Deng Shiqing. The skateboards hanging on the wall are by well-known Miami street artist Jona Cerwinske and just to keep things interesting, the large black-and-white work at the top the stairs is by Dufour and Blondel and dates to the early 1800s.
The glass walls continue into the simple and high end, all-white kitchen. Each of the bedrooms has a private terrace and a stylized private bathroom, while the third bathroom is nice to have but is less than ideally located off the kitchen. When it is time to go to bed and turn off the city, automatic blinds are controlled with a push of a button — the curtains in the triple-height living room are also automated — and each room can be individually climate-controlled via a new smart HVAC system.
All together, the four outdoor spaces total about 700 square feet. Like the indoor kitchen, the rooftop’s outdoor kitchen is fitted with Viking appliances, while the heated cabana features a retractable awning, surround sound audio and seating for ten. Wooden hot tubs aren’t as common as they once were but the seller spotted one in San Francisco and was determined to get one like it to New York. And he did. Both old school and high tech, the tub’s temperature and its multiple jets can be set on a timer via an app to ensure everything is perfect before stepping in and soaking up the priceless view.
For ease, private onsite parking for one car is available, with a second possible. But who wants to drive? McCarren Park, the largest and most popular park in Williamsburg, is straight out the front door of the building and offers an a huge pool, an outdoor gym, tennis courts, handball courts, a soccer and football fields, and a track for running laps. Fun spots nearby include Ponyboy, Bar Bruno, William Vale, and Brooklyn Bowl, just to name a few.
