Looking for an eco-friendly building about as far downtown as one can get in Manhattan? One where you can bump into household names in the lobby or gym? Of course! Who isn’t?
In 2008, the year Battery Park’s full-service Riverhouse building opened, Leo DiCaprio plunked down about $3.7 million for a unit he liked so much that six years later he ponied up $8 million for the place next door. And in 2009, Tyra Banks dropped more than $10 million on four units she combined into a vast single duplex. Other residents of the LEED gold certified complex have included Oliver Stone, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cobie Smulders, and Will Smith.
Now, the crown jewel penthouse of the David Rockwell-designed building, a 4,100-square-foot mansion in the sky, is available on the 32nd floor, allowing for epic Manhattan skyline and Hudson River views. Available via Danny Abraham at Nest Seekers, the four-bedroom, four-and-a half bathroom condo is asking a cool $18.8 million. Monthly common charges are $6,538, while taxes are $6,140.
Green features include teak cabinets (sustainable!), bamboo floors (ditto!), solar powered energy, and other environmentally friendly materials and finishes. Even the air and water filters ensure what is breathed and bathed in is as clean as possible.
Giant windows in practically every room make for unforgettable water views. Agent Abraham says of the space, “It feels like being in a private jet flying over Manhattan.” It’s also like boat floating on the river. Copious closets—especially the three walk-ins in the primary suite—and en-suite bathrooms make for easy living, while the open floor space, with its 25-foot-long living room, equally long dining room and 650-square-foot family room, is perfect for entertaining.
Building amenities include a concierge, a gym with a 50-foot lap pool, on-site parking, a billiards room, an outdoor terrace, a media cafe, and a pet grooming area. There’s even a branch of the New York Public Library in the building and, of course, all the fabulous shops, restaurants, and attractions of Tribeca are on the doorstep. Plus there’s the thrill of riding in the elevator with a supermodel and/or an Oscar winner.
