In Houston’s pleasant old neighborhood of Hyde Park stands a nearly new house. (It was built in 2017.) Unassuming from the street, the two-story house sits on 0.11 of an acre, which is considered spacious for the densely built area. Owned by event designer Todd Fiscus and mononym high-end hairdresser Ceron, there is nothing staid or cliched about the interiors. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus one powder room, in just over 3,900 square feet.
Fiscus’s slogan is “Throw better parties, period.” Recent clients include Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. The creative couple maintain offices and studios in both Dallas and Houston. But since they spend most of their time in Dallas, they have decided to downsize in Houston.
A sophisticated and elegant dwelling filled with interesting artworks and eye-catching decorative flourishes, the home is designed with the perfect amounts of creativity and sensibility that suits family life. (The couple have a young daughter.) The dramatic two-story foyer leads to the main floor living spaces and for a bit of privacy, there’s study with built-ins is privately tucked behind French doors. The open formal dining room delights with green Gucci wallpaper printed with herons and a chandelier laden with raw crystals, and next to that is a well-stocked wet bar with wine fridge. The great room sports simple and comfortable white furniture, with a pretty marble fireplace, and the crisply modern kitchen is also of a snowy hue.
All bedrooms, plus an additional living room or media room, are upstairs, with the intriguingly wallpapered primary suite featuring a seating area and a balcony that overlooks the back yard. Just big enough to possibly add a small pool and or a spa, the fully fenced and faux-turfed yard includes a covered patio with a built-in grill.
