According to a recent report by the online real estate brokerage Redfin, during the third quarter of 2022, a record number of homebuyers nationwide — 24.2 percent — were looking to move to a different metro area, driven, per Redfin’s analysis, by inflation and rising mortgage rates to seek out more affordable areas.
Topping the list of cities Redfin users were focusing their search on was….drum roll…Sacramento! In your face, Miami, Las Vegas, San Diego, and Tampa! (those were the runners up, FYI)
In light of this honor, it seems only fitting to turn the spotlight on one of the homes currently on the market in California’s state capital. Located in the city’s Boulevard Park neighborhood, the property in question was built in 1908 for Clinton L. White, who served as Sacramento’s mayor from 1908-1909.
Now on Sacramento’s Historic Register, the four-bedroom American Foursquare-style residence underwent a restoration and renovation in 2020 that preserved an abundance of lovely period features, including leaded art-glass windows, pocket doors, gorgeous millwork, vintage light fixtures and switches, multiple fireplaces, and a bevy of built-ins. Mixing in with the original elements are a new open-concept kitchen with quartzite counters and custom imported cabinetry, a new mudroom, and a luxurious primary bath replete with built-in vanity, dual-head shower, and soaking tub.
Other updates to the 3,300-square-foot home include new electrical, plumbing, and dual HVAC systems, dual tankless water heaters, and an EV charger. It also has a sizable basement and attic that can be used for storage or be finished for additional living space.
On a 6.534-square-foot lot, the property is listed with Michelle Mirtoni of MAK Realty Alliance at an asking price of $1.899 million.
