The luxurious Caribbean resort of Mayakoba, on the Rivera Maya just a half an hour’s drive from Cancun, is hosting Mexico’s first PGA Tour event beginning next week. This family friendly resort has long been known for golf excellence by famous athletes like Michael Jordan, Tony Romo and Brooks Koepka, who’ve played here. For those who want as much time as possible in the area, the noted Fairmont Resort has residence offerings that put owners at the middle of the action. Buyers can enjoy their own sprawling Mexican villa, where residences feature floor plans ranging from 2,600 to over 6,200 square feet. Prices start at $1.67 million.
And in addition to a suite of amenities available only to residents, including two large pools, kids’ club and clubhouse, the features of the recently renovated Fairmont resort are also open to them, including a new beach club and new restaurants. The resort includes 600 acres of lush oceanfront scenery, as well as more than 25 restaurants, the PGA Tour golf course, four spas, a scuba dive center, racket center, “El Pueblito” Town Square, one mile of private white sand coastline, and even a VanDutch private yacht.
There are now three residential buildings offering ownership; each offers six or seven fully furnished private residences, one prime penthouse and interiors designed by Room 1804, a celebrated Spanish design firm. Room 1804 selected finishes that are authentic to the area, including natural stone and tile and wood accents, choosing furnishings that would fit into the natural color palette with organic textures.
The main living areas are open concept; they include floor-to-ceiling glass walls that fully retract. But who wants to be inside? Spacious terraces are perfect for outdoor living room, while there are also private plunge or swimming pools, as well as scenic views of the jungle and golf course.
“The design of the residences was based and founded in the search for a look that breathes the concept of relaxed luxury,” said Luis Yunta Lizan, Interior Design Director of Room 1804. “Fairmont Residences Mayakoba is a place to rest and relax, to forget the everyday routine and enjoy the spectacular surroundings of the environment. We created a tropical wabi-sabi aesthetic, where residents can appreciate the beauty in the simplicity of things.”
