A little over four years after he paid Russell Simmons $8.1 million for his Hollywood Hills residence high atop the Sunset Strip, Dr. Chris Krubert — a board member at Specialdocs Consultants and former CEO of ApolloMD — is ready to let it go, this time with a $13.6 million ask. And though there probably aren’t any personal buddha statues and street art remaining from the hip-hop mogul’s five-year stay in the extensively updated Spanish-style digs, there definitely are plenty of amenities — a subterranean wine cellar and Venetian plaster-clad game room that doubles as a library, just to name a couple.
Built in the early 1930s — and nicknamed “Casa Olivia” — the creamy stucco and terracotta-roof structure is nestled on a street-to-street parcel spanning one-third of an acre, and tucked away behind gates and towering hedges. A main house and guesthouse include five bedrooms and seven baths spread across just over 6,400 square feet of two-level living space protected by a high-tech security system.
Among the highlights: hand-forged glass steel doors opening into a soaring rotunda-topped foyer displaying a curving wrought-iron staircase, which flows to formal living room and the aforementioned game room/library. A family room sporting a 13th-century French mantle fireplace and steel-trimmed French doors connects to the gourmet kitchen, which comes complete with marble countertops, dual islands, and top-tier Wolf, Miele and Sub-Zero appliances.
An accompanying breakfast nook with banquette seating has a door that leads down to the wine cellar; and elsewhere on the main level is an ensuite guest bedroom and office with built-in shelving. Upstairs, three more ensuite bedrooms include the sumptuous master retreat, which boasts a fireside seating area, private balcony, and dual walk-in closets and luxe baths.
Especially standing out are the Scott Shrader-landscaped grounds, which host a resort-like backyard spotlighted by an outdoor kitchen with a bar, barbecue and commercial-grade pizza oven, as well as a “hidden” shower and an expansive veranda ideal for al fresco entertaining. There’s also a detached guesthouse, plus a spacious motorcourt, an attached two-car garage and an additional gated carport out front.
