Ariadne Getty already owns three impressive Los Angeles homes — a $15 million condo at the Maybourne Beverly Hills, a sleekly modern Studio City house and a huge Toluca Lake mansion she bought from Miley Cyrus years ago — but it’s easy to see why the lifelong philanthropist has just added this historic Los Feliz home to her collection.
Getty paid nearly $7 million for the gated estate, which includes a tri-level Spanish Colonial Revival house originally built in 1930 by architect Gene Verge. While it’s clearly been updated and modernized in recent years, the elegant structure still includes many original details, including arched doorways and colorful tilework throughout.
Last sold in 2016 for $6.4 million to Tim Disney, Walt Disney’s grand-nephew and a son of the late billionaire Roy E. Disney, the Los Feliz house was deeded over to Disney’s second ex-wife Neda Disney in 2019 as part of the couple’s divorce settlement. It was Neda who just sold the place to Getty, after first putting it up for sale two full years ago, asking $7.5 million.
No word yet about where Neda Disney is moving, but Tim Disney still owns a stunning Silver Lake Reservoir-adjacent home he bought from Kristen Wiig a few years ago, plus vacation homes in Santa Barbara and Joshua Tree, Calif.
As for Getty, some of her L.A. homes are reportedly occupied by her sons, fashion designer August Getty and Nats Getty Gorgeous, a socialite and activist who is married to popular transgender YouTuber Gigi Gorgeous.
Getty herself is the younger sister of fellow real estate collector Aileen Getty and a granddaughter of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, once the world’s richest man and the primary benefactor of the Getty Museum. Born in Rome and raised primarily in rural Italy, Getty is also a noted patron of a diverse array of charity organizations; in 2019, she was honored as Variety’s Philanthropist of the Year.
