Barely a year after it last sold, one of the biggest units in Century City’s prestigious, Robert A.M. Stern-designed The Century condo skyscraper has returned to the market, asking nearly $28 million. Should the lavish penthouse sell for anywhere near that amount, it will rank as one of the priciest condos ever sold in California.
The current owner, Aussie tech entrepreneur Nick Molnar, paid $21.6 million for the place last summer, when he bought it from “Friends” actor Matthew Perry. Encompassing the building’s entire 40th floor, the nearly 9,300-square-foot home packs in four bedrooms and 6.5 baths, plus 360-degree views that drink in the entire skyline of greater Los Angeles.
It doesn’t appear Molnar has made any major changes to the condo since his 2021 acquisition. During Perry’s ownership, the mansion-sized aerie was extensively renovated by architect Scott Joyce and interior designer LM Pagano, and the heavily customized spaces include four marble fireplaces, four separate terraces, recessed LED lighting and remote-controlled window coverings throughout. The unit will also transfer with four deeded parking spots in the building’s garage, a rare and highly coveted amenity at The Century.
From the elevator landing, guests will be immediately wowed by the condo’s dramatic entrance gallery, which leads to a living room with a curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. A separate dining room is serviced by the dual-island kitchen, naturally outfitted with premium stainless appliances. More comfy spaces include a family room and a soundproof home theater with velour couches.
Long hallways lead to the three guest bedrooms, each of them equipped with its own ensuite full bath. The curvaceous master bedroom has head-on views of twinkling city lights, and there are dual master baths, dual walk-in closets and a dedicated lounge/sitting room/office area. There’s also an outdoor dining terrace with a built-in BBQ.
Upon its completion circa 2010, many of The Century building’s first buyers were foreign nationals and low-profile businesspeople. Those demographics appear to be somewhat changing, however — Denzel Washington recently bought a Saudi princess’s customized condo, and reality TV stars Dr. Terry and Heather Dubrow have just acquired a Russian billionaire’s high-floor spread. Other notable homeowners include Rihanna and Candy Spelling, whose giant penthouse presides over the building’s top two floors.
Those well-heeled residents enjoy a wide variety of communal building amenities, including 24/7 security guards and concierge, tranquil outdoor gardens and a swimming pool, a state-of-the-art gym, in-house restaurant, conference rooms, private wine storage facilities and much more.
Molnar, the co-founder of Afterpay, has moved to his new $34 million Bel Air estate. The 32-year-old also keeps a $29 million home in Malibu’s guard-gated Colony community and a luxe compound in his native Australia.
James Harris and David Parnes of Bond Street Partners at The Agency hold the listing. The condo’s staged interiors were furnished by Vesta Home.
