A light-filled condo on a high floor of the elliptical 42-story Century tower in L.A.’s Century City has come for sale with Geoffrey Frid of Compass at almost $14 million.
Once owned by an immensely rich Kuwaiti heiress, tax records show the 4,450-square-foot spread was acquired in the fall of 2017 for $8.13 million — more than $300,000 above the asking price! — by a corporate entity tied to Nikita Kahn, the longtime girlfriend of trophy house collecting 78-year-old billionaire software tycoon Larry Ellison.
Though they have been infrequently photographed together in recent years, the 30-something-year-old Russian-born model/actress turned philanthropist, interior designer, and real estate investor uses one of the many beachfront homes Ellison owns along Malibu’s Carbon Beach as an official address. And though they are not known to have married, numerous public records list her as Nikita Kahn Ellison.
A dedicated animal rights activist, Kahn’s personal promo material for her philanthropic involvements and interior design work reveals that she aims to design homes “with classic pieces, neutral color palettes, and touches of timeless sophistication.” And certainly, this four-bedroom and five-and-a-half-bath aerie fits that design brief to a T.
Gigantic windows dressed with automated cashmere shades frame vast city views and the monochromatic modern furnishings are mostly by RH (formerly Restoration Hardware), with some notable vintage piece sprinkled in, such as the wood and chrome “Cityscape” dining table by late American designer Paul Evans. Along with ample formal living and dining rooms, both with a fireplace, there’s a roomy kitchen with designer appliances, snack-bar seating, and a small lounge or breakfast space with open city views. Every bedroom has a private bathroom — the primary suite has two! — and a couple of the bedrooms have direct access to one of the condo’s several balconies.
Residents of The Century pay hefty association fees — in the case of the Kahn condo, more than $4,700 per month — for myriad white-glove services and on-site creature comforts. In addition to 24/7 concierge and security services, an attended lobby and valet parking, there’s a private bar/dining room, a conference room, a professional screening room, a gym and for those who don’t install a wine cave in their condo, wine storage. The complex’s several acres of immaculate gardens incorporate a 75-foot, resort-worthy pool lined with cabanas.
It seems unlikely Kahn ever occupied the condo herself — it was available as a rental several years ago at $43,000 per month — The Century is (or has been) home to a slew of moneyed movers and shakers: 2023 Super Bowl half-time entertainer Rihanna, acclaimed restaurateur Nobu Matsuhisa, dancer and choreographer Paula Abdul, and “Friends” actor Matthew Perry. Candy Spelling has presided over the 16,500-square-foot duplex penthouse since the building opened a dozen years ago, and some of the tower’s newer resident-owners include Hollywood royal Denzel Washington and reality TV regulars Heather and Terry Dubrow.
Like Ellison, whose $110+ billion fortune allows him to own more homes than most people have fingers and toes, including almost the entire Hawaiian island of Lanai, Kahn also maintains a frequently in flux though substantially smaller portfolio of luxury investment properties. She once owned a second unit at The Century — purchased in 2017 for $6 million and sold in 2021 for $7.25 million — and her current holdings include: another spacious condo in another luxury high-rise, this one along Wilshire Boulevard; a beachfront home in Santa Monica, scooped about 1.5 years ago for a tad more than $6.2 million; a four-bedroom townhouse in downtown Aspen, Colo., acquired in 2016 for $7.3 million.
