The widow of late investor Lloyd I. Miller III is switching coasts, trading in a sprawling mansion on Palm Beach’s “Billionaires Row” for a smaller but no less ritzy place in L.A.’s Platinum Triangle neighborhood of Holmby Hills. As first reported in the Wall Street Journal, the Florida socialite/arts patron Susan Miller has sold her nearly three-acre ocean-to-lake compound on South Ocean Boulevard to fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and his wife Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger in an off-market deal valued at $46.3 million.
With her substantial windfall — the Millers had bought the place from beleaguered media mogul Conrad Black back in 2011 for “just” $23.1 million — Susan has picked up new digs in an equally posh Los Angeles locale. Records reveal she doled out exactly $27 million for a traditional 1930s estate on one of the most affluent streets in Holmby Hills.
Crafted by noted classical architect Thomas Proctor and nestled on over an acre of land defined by rolling grassy lawns and picturesque gardens, the deluxe Holmby Hills spread includes seven bedrooms and eight baths in nearly 10,000 square feet of living space, plus glitzy amenities like an elevator, a lighted championship tennis court and a saltwater swimming pool. Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency and Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker Realty were the listing agents for the Holmby Hills property; Miller was repped by Lea Porter of Coldwell Banker.
Hidden away behind iron gates and soaring hedges, Miller’s new white-brick home sports a double-height foyer, which opens to formal living and dining rooms and displays a curved staircase. Built in 1937 and long owned by Charles Wick — director of the United States Information Agency (USIA) during Ronald Reagan’s presidency — the house was once frequented by former presidents and notable celebrities. French doors and walls of windows frame views of the lush grounds.
There’s also a billiard room, movie theater with a wet bar, paneled office, gourmet kitchen abutting a family room, and a master suite outfitted with a fireplace and dual baths. Elsewhere on the property are a separate guest suite and gym.

Neighbors include Steve Wynn and art collectors Amy and John Phelan, and there are many amenities — a guesthouse, movie theater, library and three-car garage. The property also has a boat dock, tennis court, fountains and a pool flanked by a pavilion.
