Though she bought it barely eight months ago, Sue Gross has decided to part ways with yet another home she owns in a particularly exclusive pocket of Beverly Hills. The ex-wife of PIMCO cofounder and billionaire Bill Gross — who herself is worth an estimated $1.6 billion, per Forbes — is asking $17.5 million for a Tuscan-inspired farmhouse that she doled out $16 million for just last year, in November 2021.
Gross also maintains two other homes immediately adjacent to this property: a Hal Levitt-designed midcentury modern that she paid $20 million for back in 2018 and subsequently renovated, and another home previously owned by Ellen DeGeneres that’s currently on the market for $28.9 million, though Gross herself paid a whopping $35 million for the premises just a few years ago.
Originally built in 1966, her latest for-sale property was completely redone from the ground up by noted architects Luis Ortega and Jose Fernandez in 2005. Resting on a gated parcel spanning almost a half-acre, and fronted by a spacious porte-cochère and motorcourt, the stucco, stone and terracotta-roof structure has five bedrooms and an equal number of baths sprawled across more than 5,300 square feet of living space boasting wood-beam ceilings, Venetian plaster walls and steel-case windows throughout.
Highlights include a striking double-height glass entry foyer displaying Old French-style terracotta stone floors, along with a fireside living room and formal dining room. A sleekly designed gourmet kitchen is outfitted with high-end Miele and Wolf appliances, a center island and breakfast nook, while the sumptuous main-floor master retreat sports a walk-in closet, and dual baths equipped with luxe amenities like a steam shower and soaking tub.
Elsewhere is a study/office space, gym with yoga platform, guest casita with its own entrance and an observation deck overlooking picturesque vistas. Outdoors, the lush grounds were professionally landscaped by Knibb Design, and host an expansive veranda, and a pool and spa nestled alongside an open-air cabana with fireplace.
