If this Beverly Hills house looks very familiar, you’re not imagining things. Completed in early 2021, the ultra-bespoke residential extravaganza was widely marketed for sale with a $65 million price tag. It was even leased to Drake for a time, before finally selling for $42 million last summer. But less than a year later, it’s back up for grabs — asking $62 million.
The current owner’s name remains unknown. But according to a person familiar with the property, the mystery buyer mysteriously never even moved into their epic new mansion, though they did do some sort of renovation to the place. The full scope of that renovation remains — you guessed it — mysterious, but Beverly Hills permit records indicate the property’s swimming pool was significantly altered in some way.
Whatever the case, the vacant home’s asking price is clearly targeting billionaire jet-setters. Set on a half-acre hillside parcel high in the desirable Trousdale Estates neighborhood, the structure was built by Luxford Investment Group, a firm created by Chinese tycoon Wang Zhongjun and publicly headed up by developer Michael Chen, and designed by acclaimed South Africa-based architecture firm SAOTA.
Luxford spent six years skillfully packing the house with every residential extravagance. The 18,000-square-foot structure sits hard up on the street, but privately behind gates and towering hedges, and a marble bridge passing over a shallow moat sets the stage for the luxuries inside. Guests are greeted by a two-story marble atrium with a 150-year-old olive tree, walls of glass and a spiral staircase.
There are two kitchens: a “main” kitchen with sleek Gaggenau appliances, and a separate butler’s kitchen with twin Viking stoves. The living room offers a linear fireplace sheathed in Italian black marble and walls of glass spilling out to a vast terrace with a fire-pit.
A total of seven bedrooms and 14 bathrooms are scattered throughout the home, including a master retreat with dual marble baths, a showroom closet and private balcony with a jacuzzi. Downstairs, in “Trousdale’s only permitted daylight basement,” per the listing, lies a 20-seat movie theater, a lounge with a wet bar, wine cellar with tasting area, a gym and a wellness center with sauna and massage facilities.
Naturally, there’s also an infinity pool with dazzling city lights views. And for the professional entertainer, the property has enough patio and al fresco dining space to accommodate the grandest at-home galas.
Branden and Rayni Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates hold the listing.
