This Penthouse Offers Epic Views of Manhattan From Its Rooftop Pool

The sellers of this paradise are hedgie Teddy Kang and wife Elise Kang, who paid about $16.75 million for several apartments on three floors and combined them to create a one-of-a-kind penthouse. The couple retained a half-floor unit as a rental that is not included in the sale, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. The interiors are almost as special as the roof deck. Its three floors are connected with a stunning helical staircase coated with Venetian plaster. A custom chandelier cascades down its center. The living and dining spaces are generously sized, with oversized windows that frame open city views. The kitchen isn’t huge, but its island is perfect for afternoon snacks, and is done in the same calm, muted tones as the rest of the apartment. The bespoke cabinet fronts are made of hand-blown glass.

There’s an office for the grownups, with walnut paneling and a marble bar, and plenty of room for kids and their friends. That said, the showcase, of course, is the bi-level roof deck, which, in addition to the pool and hot tub, includes a small lawn and a dining pergola. This is all in the increasingly torrid Flatiron District, which is near, well, pretty much everything: Tribeca, the Village, Hudson Yards, you name it. Shopping, restaurants, entertainment, it’s all there.
