After several years on and off the rental market, a lavish Beverly Hills compound long owned by model and entrepreneur Kimora Lee Simmons has finally popped up for sale, asking a speck under $23 million. The Baby Phat CEO purchased the Mediterranean estate way back in 2008 for $11 million, with property records showing the home was last offered for lease in December at $62,500 per month.
Securely hidden away from the street out front by gates and a dense swath of foliage, the biege-hued stucco and terracotta-roof structure rests on nearly an acre of land in the lower Coldwater Canyon area. Built in 1990, the palatial spread features five bedrooms and eight baths spread across some 13,000 square feet of decidedly dated and opulently decorated living space. There’s also an attached four-car garage, plus a two-bedroom, one-bath guesthouse with a kitchen and an entertainment deck up top.
Main-level highlights include a double-height entry foyer crowned by a skylight and displaying a curving wrought-iron staircase, which flows to a fireside living room marked by a high coffered ceiling and French doors that open to the backyard, along with a chandeliered dining room and mahogany wood-paneled library. A gourmet kitchen is outfitted with an eat-in island, high-end stainless appliances, a butler’s pantry and breakfast nook.
Five ensuite bedrooms can be found upstairs, including a posh master retreat boasting a wood-burning fireplace, private balcony and dual baths with walk-in closets; and elsewhere is a family room, gym and wine cellar. Outdoors, the manicured grounds host a custom pool and spa flanked by an open-air cabana, as well as a garden and sport court.
Though she’s still widely known as the former wife of both hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and infamous financier Tim Leissner, Kimora has made a name for herself in both fashion and business. Beginning her modeling career as a teenager, the 47-year-old Missouri native walked the runway for Fendi, Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent. Since then, she’s been a judge on popular TV show “America’s Next Top Model,” starred in her own reality show and founded fashion brand Baby Phat. She’s also reportedly amassed a $200 million net worth.
As for Simmons, the mom and her five children are far from homeless. Though she sold the palatial property in 2021, the family continues to live in a Beverly Park mansion, reportedly as part of a longterm lease-back arrangement.
