Danny Harris — best known as cofounder and co-CEO of the Los Angeles-based fashion and lifestyle brand Alo Yoga, whose celeb-studded fan base includes the likes of Kendall Jenner, Alexandra Daddario, Emily Ratajkowski and Blake Lively — has picked up new oceanfront digs in Malibu. Records show the successful entrepreneur paid a tad over $14.2 million for the nicely located yet decidedly outdated getaway, which is sited on the ultra-prestigious Carbon Beach.
Harris’ newly acquired residence was built back in the late 1970s, and last traded hands in 1989 for a mere $1.3 million. In the mid-1990s, it was reportedly leased to a young Leo DiCaprio; who apparently liked the area so much that he quickly bought the house immediately next door. (DiCaprio sold that Carbon Beach house just a few months ago.)
Resting on less than a quarter-acre of land, the terracotta-hued structure features three bedrooms and four baths in a little more than 3,000 square feet of living space, plus a street-side entry that opens into a mosaic-tiled courtyard with access to a pod-style elevator, an outdoor shower, the beach and front door.
Once inside, a spacious open-concept area boasts walls of glass spilling out to a partially covered balcony sporting a built-in Jacuzzi, and plenty of room for al fresco dining and lounging amid the eye-catching coastline views. Back inside, a fireside living room holds a wet bar concealed behind French doors, and an adjacent dining area connects to an updated kitchen flanked by wood columns that’s outfitted with dual islands, stone countertops and high-end stainless appliances. There’s also an adjacent lounge with fireplace.
A sky-lit staircase heads to the upper level, where three ensuite bedrooms include a master suite adorned with a fireplace, balcony, walk-in closet, and spa-style bath equipped with dual vanities, a clawfoot soaking tub and shower. A mirrored gym can also be found on this level; and elsewhere on the property is a garage that’s been converted into a workspace and laundry room.
In addition to his new Malibu digs, Harris also maintains a $30 million estate in L.A.’s Holmby Hills neighborhood.
Chris Cortazzo of Compass held the listing; the buyer was repped by Michael Fahimian and Jack Harris of Rodeo Realty.
